Ideas for Your Reels

Looking to share short videos this year and show off your event site? Here are some fun ideas to help capture the spirit of your Greatest American Cleanup.

  • Build excitement with a countdown reel using quick clips of staff or volunteers prepping for the cleanup, recycling drive, or beautification event.

  • Share photos or short clips from past GAC events to highlight your history and invite people to join in again this year.

  • Introduce your volunteers or partners with short clips or simple mentions to spotlight the people making your event possible.

  • Share quick stats relating to the theme of your event, like “Americans throw away 292 million tons of trash each year” or “Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours.”

  • Show your trash and recycling collection setup—bags, bins, and volunteers organizing materials—with text like “Every piece counts!”

  • Film a volunteer picking up litter with a fun caption like “Small actions, big impact!”

  • Capture volunteers in action—smiling, picking up litter together, or planting a garden—to highlight the spirit of your community.

  • Grab quick event-day snippets—people arriving, trash being collected, or public spaces being beautified—to show the energy of your cleanup.

  • Show what happens next! Capture a behind-the-scenes look at how collected recyclables or yard waste are processed, or before-after comparisons.

  • End on a feel-good note by showing how cleanup efforts beautify your community—from cleared parks and green spaces to volunteers celebrating a successful day.

  • Alternatively, do a quick mashup of your favorite clips to create a lively highlight reel.
