Grant Recipients

Annually, the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation receives requests for funding in excess of $30,000. Below is a list of the most recent grantees. The Foundation has funded programs ranging from hosting an environmental summit for Scouts to purchasing water-monitoring equipment to help a community learn more about the water quality in their streams, to supporting classroom environmental education activities.

Track the increase number of requests to participate in, and use, the Affiliates Nonpoint Pollution Prevention resources. Track requests for storm drain stenciling kits, teacher training, and Water Tool kit usage.

Implement a program promoting environmental stewardship and community involvement that facilitates school beautification and recycling programs.
Track the number of schools and students that participate in the program as well as the number of “green” events held by participating schools.
         
Keep Hall Beautiful, Inc. $2,000 2003 Litter Prevention Campaign
Develop and distribute bilingual posters, flyers, and brochures promoting litter prevention; sponsor community cleanups, and implement an aggressive code enforcement program.
Track the number of volunteers recruited, the media coverage gained, and the number of code enforcement citations issued. KAB’s litter index will also be used.

Invigorate programs like Adopt-A-Mile and special litter pickups by providing educational classes and develop a Public Service Announcement (PSA).

Implement an environmental awareness and environmental awareness program for K-12 Students and get them involved in KFCB functions.

Develop and produce a puppet show and characters promoting environmental stewardship and conservation.

KAB Promotion in Schools
Reintroduce the Keep America Beautiful program and resources to educators in the Crisp County school system; promote clothes recycling for Great American Cleanup activities and support the development of Liberty Gardens at county schools.

Track the increased tonnage of clothes recycled as a result of student and teacher promotion and the number of classrooms constructing a Liberty Garden.

Host two workshops for educators to help them identify ways to integrate environmental issues with Georgia's mandated Quality Core Curriculum standards.

Purchase supplies to support activities at an environmental fair attracting over 1,000 fifth grade students and paint supplies for students to use to paint a recycling truck to promote office paper

Track the number of participants attending the fair and survey a representative sample to determine what they learned and how future fair programs might be improved.
