The FoundationThe Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, Inc. was created in 1985 to promote private sector financial support for worthwhile educational programs that enhance the environment and the quality of life in Georgia. The Foundation is based on a fundamental premise that the environmental interests of the state of Georgia and the people who live here is best served when public and private interests work hand-in-hand to achieve common goals. The Foundation consists of a diverse array of public and private interests and individuals appointed by the Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA). DCA staff supports the Foundation with administrative, strategic, and program support. To achieve its strategic objectives, much of the Foundation's activities and resources are focused on the Keep Georgia Beautiful (KGB) program and 67 local Keep America Beautiful (KAB) affiliates in the state. This is significant because the KAB affiliates in Georgia serve more than 70 percent of the state's population or some 6 million people. In addition to litter abatement, KAB is held in high regard for its environmental education and beautification programs. KGB coordinates a number of important environmental efforts, including the Great American Cleanup activities in Georgia and the statewide Bring One for the Chipper Christmas tree recycling program. The Foundation's MissionProvide financial support and other resources to the Keep America Beautiful programs and other environmental education programs in Georgia. The Foundation's Strategy
